EXPLORING THE
DEPTHS OF
TŪĀRANGI
Join Us in the Journey of Discovering the Unknown

OUR MISSION
We are an Aerospace collective that aims to create a Māori aerospace industry that is based on the values and principles that underpin Māori culture and society.
Our group is made up of Māori experts from fields such as astrophysics, space medicine, cyber security, innovation, business and entrepreneurship. We are passionate and dedicated to creating connections and opportunity between industry, business and researchers, in order to connect and grow capacity and capability in the Māori aerospace sector.

OUR KAUPAPA
Innovative Approaches for Exploring Tūārangi
Māori Space Future
Our collective has gathered across a number of wānanga to ask important questions: How do we, as Māori, want to be part of the future of the aerospace sector? How do we want the sector to develop? How do we want to see space exploration conducted and what values and principles should guide it? What does this future look like, and what steps must we take to get there?
As we journey into and beyond Earth, we must ask not only what we want to explore, but also how we wish to do so in ways that reflect our identity, values, and responsibilities. We have begun to envision and explore what a distinctly Māori aerospace future might look like — one that builds on our existing strengths while also creating new capabilities. This vision will carry us into diverse fields such as aerospace engineering, space medicine, astrobiology, and beyond.

Education
We are passionate about education. Our education programmes are built on partnerships so that we can come together to inspire and educate rangatahi in space sciences. We collaborate with both national and international experts working on space kaupapa to develop exciting activities that will spark ideas in our youth. We partner with organisations, if you are interested in partnering contact us on our contacts page.

What Research are we Focussed On?
The Aims, Aspirations, Issues and Concerns for Māori on Aeropace
Our space organisations take a unique Indigenous approach to exploring Tūārangi. We draw upon Māori culture and tradition to guide our research. This approach allows us to uncover new insights and perspectives that may have been overlooked using western methods. Check out our latest Report.
